You can delete your maebe account yourself at any time – right in the app or in your browser, without contacting us. Deletion is permanent: your account and all associated data are removed for good.
How to delete your account
- Open your account (click your name at the bottom of the menu, then Account).
- Go to the Profile tab and scroll all the way down to the Danger zone.
- Tap Delete account.
- maebe briefly asks for the reason – pick one from the list or describe it under "Other". This helps us improve maebe and doesn't change your decision.
- You'll then see exactly what will be removed. To confirm, you go through two steps: first type in your email address, then type the word delete.
- After you confirm, your account is deleted immediately and irreversibly.
What gets deleted
- Your user account, including name, email and profile picture
- Any teams you solely own – including projects, posts, uploaded images and videos, media pools and all related content
- Any active subscription is cancelled
If you're only a member of other people's teams, your membership there is removed – the teams themselves and their content stay with their owner.
If other people are still in your team
If you own a team that still has other members, you can't delete your account yet. The preview shows you which teams are affected. You then have two options:
- Transfer the team: Drop us a line at hello@maebe.app telling us who should take over – we'll transfer it. The team then keeps running without you, and afterwards you delete just your own account. (An active subscription doesn't carry over; the new owner subscribes themselves.)
- Empty the team: Remove all other members from the team (Team settings → Members) – the team is then deleted together with your account.
This way no team disappears unnoticed for people still working in it, and we never delete other people's accounts along with yours.
Retention after deletion
Your account and content are removed from the live system immediately. For technical reasons, copies may remain in our encrypted backups for up to 30 days and are then overwritten during regular backup rotation. Beyond that we do not retain any of your data – except what we are legally required to keep (e.g. invoice data relevant for tax purposes).
Good to know
- Deletion cannot be undone. Download anything you want to keep beforehand.
- If a team should keep running, have us transfer its ownership to someone else before deleting – otherwise the team is deleted with your account.
