Even with good context, AI texts quickly sound like "some AI": a little too smooth, a little too long, one emoji too many. Style personas fix that. A persona is a curated writing style with firm rules – length, form of address, emoji usage, sentence structure, opening – that the AI follows strictly.
The six personas
Each persona is a character with its own signature:
- Nova – the hype voice ("Loud & Close"): high energy, direct community address, lots of line breaks, a clear call to action. For creators and lifestyle brands.
- Kai – the minimalist ("Less is more"): eight words at most, consistently lowercase, no emojis. The image does the work, the text steps back. For artists, design and premium brands.
- Milo – the storyteller ("The story behind it"): a personal mini-story with an emotional opening and a calm ending. For process insights and brands with a mission.
- Cleo – the professional ("Professional, but personal"): benefit first, clear sentences, trustworthy and approachable. For B2B, agencies and service providers.
- Jules – the dry one ("Dry & Direct"): understatement with a punchline at the end, no hype, no emojis. For challenger brands and creators with an edge.
- Noa – the explainer ("Clear & Helpful"): value first with clean structure, happy to use lists. For educators and thought leadership.
Where you set the persona
You pick the team default in the AI settings (sidebar → Content → AI Assistant, step 3): each persona appears as a card with a sample caption – you choose by recognition, not by reading descriptions. The choice then applies everywhere maebe writes texts for you: in the caption assistant, the campaign assistant and the content suggestions.
Switching for a single run: in all three places you can pick a different persona for exactly this run – or deliberately "None". In the campaign assistant and the content suggestions you'll see your current persona and open the card picker via "Change"; in the caption assistant you choose directly via the persona chips (one click reveals the details). Your team default stays untouched.
Note: Without a chosen persona nothing changes – the AI writes just like before, guided only by your context and writing samples.
Comparing and combining personas
In the content suggestions and the campaign assistant you can pick up to two alternative voices alongside your default persona. Each of these personas then writes its own caption variant per post or idea – with its own angle on the images or concept, not just the same sentence in a different tone. Portrait and name sit right on the card, so you compare the perspectives side by side. Your selection applies in both places.
If you like one variant, select it and its text lands in the caption field. And when two or three voices each have something good: select them together and let maebe build a blended caption via "Combine selected" – one text that merges the tone and best phrasings of the selected drafts. The result stays fully editable; whatever ends up in the caption field is what gets adopted.
Persona and writing samples – who wins?
Both work together, with a clear division of labour: your writing samples are the voice – word choice, typical phrases, emoji habits, warmth. The persona provides the structure around it (length, build-up, base energy). The AI writes as if you had adopted the persona's format – on a style conflict your samples win, while length and base tone remain binding from the persona. The AI context still provides the what – facts, topics and vocabulary of your brand.
The style hint
maebe checks every generated text against the rules of the chosen persona – for example whether the length stays within the corridor and the emoji limit is respected. In the caption assistant, the AI automatically corrects an outlier once. If a result still deviates, you'll see a subtle pill saying "Deviates from the persona style" – the text is still there, and you decide whether you like it as it is.
