The caption is the text that goes with your post. You write it in the post editor in the content column on the left โ right in the caption field. Just start typing; your input is saved automatically as you write.
Writing the caption
Write the caption the way it should appear with the post later โ including line breaks, emoji and hashtags, if you want to use any. There are no rigid rules; go by the platform the post is meant for.
The AI assistant
If you're struggling to get started or need a fresh idea, the AI caption assistant is there to help. It's available in all plans and suggests a caption for you at the press of a button.
Here's how to use it:
- Open the AI assistant via the relevant button next to the caption field.
- Choose what it should do โ such as smoothing, shortening, lengthening, adding emoji or hashtags โ or give it your own short hint.
- Have it generate a suggestion.
- Use the suggestion โ or have it generate a new one until it fits.
The assistant automatically sounds like you: it follows the brand voice you've stored in your team. How to set that up is explained under Brand voice & AI context.
With Social Connect: If you've connected the Social Connect add-on, an additional option appears to include your best-performing posts so far. The assistant then uses them as a reference point for topics and style. More on that under How it works together with your insights.
Always tweak the suggestions
The assistant gives you a good starting point, not a finished product. Read through every suggestion and refine it:
- Does the tone suit the brand and the platform?
- Are the facts, names and offers right?
- Are the hashtags actually useful?
Tip: The best captions usually come from teamwork โ let the assistant give you a draft and turn it into your own text with a few personal words. That keeps your voice recognizable.
Onwards
Once the caption is done, take care of the rest of the post: Uploading media, choosing platform & format and finally Planning & scheduling.
