Cross-posting

Plan and publish a post on additional platforms at the same time — for example a reel that also goes out as a TikTok and a YouTube Short.

Approx. 3 min read

Many pieces of content work on several platforms at once — a reel, for example, works just as well as a TikTok video or a YouTube Short. With cross-posting you plan such posts once and simply take the additional platforms along.

Choosing cross-post targets

In the post editor, open the platform/format selection in the context column (pencil icon on the post card). Under Cross-post also on you'll see all platforms that match your post — just tick them.

maebe only shows you genuinely compatible targets: same aspect ratio, same media logic. A 9:16 reel can go out as a TikTok video, YouTube Short or Facebook reel, a story as a story on other platforms. Nothing needs to be re-cropped, and the post looks right everywhere.

For some combinations, compatibility depends on the selected target aspect ratio: an Instagram post can go out as a Facebook post, for example — but only in 1:1, because that's the only aspect ratio both platforms display the same way. If you pick a different target ratio, the option simply disappears until it fits again.

Useful even without Social Connect: The cross-post selection works independently of the add-on. Without connected accounts it serves as a planning and posting reminder for publishing by hand — with Social Connect, maebe automatically publishes to all selected targets as well.

Where you'll see cross-posts

Selected targets are visible everywhere your post appears:

  • In the editor and the client approval view — as additional platform pills below the title.
  • In lists and grids — as small platform icons on the post.
  • In the calendars (project, team, shared approval collections) — each target appears as its own, colour-matched entry right below the original. If you move the post via drag and drop, the targets move along automatically.
  • In the calendar subscription (iCal) — each target becomes its own event, e.g. "[TIKTOK / Crosspost] My reel". Platform-filtered subscriptions take cross-post targets into account, too.

Publishing automatically alongside

If your team has Social Connect and connected accounts on the target platforms, a single click is all it takes when publishing directly: maebe starts the main post and one publication per cross-post target — same caption, same time, but prepared appropriately for each platform.

Each platform counts individually against the daily limit, and each publication appears individually in the history — so you can see exactly what ended up where.

Tip: If you later change the post's platform or format, maebe automatically removes targets that are no longer compatible — so nothing can ever go out in the wrong format.
