The apps for iPhone, iPad and Android

Where to get the maebe apps, how to sign in, what works differently in the app than in the browser – and what you don't have to install at all.

Approx. 3 min read

maebe runs in the browser and as an app. The apps show the same interface as the web version – same teams, same projects, same posts. What they add are a few things that only work on the device itself: media from your library, uploads in the background, notifications, and saving finished media.

Where to get the apps

  • iPhone and iPad: in the App Store, search for “maebe”.
  • Android: on Google Play, also under “maebe”.

Both apps are free. You don't need them – everything works the same in the browser, including on a phone.

Signing in

You sign in with the same account as in the browser: email and password, or your Google or Apple account. There's nothing to migrate; once you're in, your teams and projects are there.

If you have two-factor sign-in switched on, the app asks for it the first time, exactly like the browser does. More on that in Two-factor sign-in.

What works differently in the app

Picking media (iPhone, iPad). The app pulls photos and videos from your library as originals. Through a website, iOS re-encodes videos first – that takes time and costs quality. In the app that detour is gone.

Uploads keep running (iPhone, iPad). You can leave the app or lock the device while files are uploading. You see the state on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. On Android, keep the app open while uploading, same as in the browser.

Notifications. The app asks on first launch whether it may send you notifications – for example when a client approves something or a comment comes in. Which events those are and which channels they use is up to you under Notifications. If you tapped “Don't allow” the first time, switch it back on in your device settings.

Saving media. Finished media go into your Photos app or gallery with one tap – handy when you want to upload a post to a platform yourself.

On the iPad

The iPad gets the full interface, not the phone layout: the rail with your areas on the left, the content in the middle, the actions at the bottom. Portrait and landscape both work.

What there isn't

You can't share an image to maebe from the Photos app. You always pick media inside maebe – in the post editor or in a media pool.

Requirements

  • iPhone and iPad: iOS or iPadOS 18.1 or newer
  • Android: Android 7 or newer

If your device is below that, use maebe in the browser – there's no restriction there.

And your clients?

They need nothing at all. An approval link opens in the browser, without an account and without installing anything. How that runs is described under Approvals.
